1. GET UNDER THE LEADERSHIP OF A MATURE BELIEVER - This helps you to grow and then you can grow another person.
2. CONTINUOUSLY READ THE WORD OF GOD AND SHARE IT WITH THOSE WILLING TO LISTEN - Paul tells Timothy to focus his time and effort on reading the Scriptures, encouraging the believers and teaching them [1 Timothy 4:13, 14]. Now logically, only those who were willing to listen became believers.
3. DO WHAT SCRIPTURE SAYS, REPEATEDLY, UNTIL IT BECOMES A PART OF YOU - Paul encourages Timothy to "practice" feeding himself spiritually with the Word of God and avoid godless traditions, practices, habit, beliefs, customs, and institutions. All these things he referred to as "godless legends" [1 Timothy 6:11].
4. "WATCH YOURSELF AND YOUR TEACHING" 4:16 - You must watch yourself in your overall interaction with others. It is not just coming in and performing great works because of your passion or what you can do. Paul tells Timothy to be an example for others in his speech, conduct, love, faith and purity [1 Timothy 4:12].
5. "STRIVE FOR RIGHTEOUSNESS, GODLINESS, FAITH, LOVE, ENDURANCE, AND GENTLENESS" [1 Timothy 6:11] - As children of God, this should be our goal through acts of service to others.
